iPads
We are incredibly fortunate at Pennine Way Primary School in the amount of technology that we have invested in to help and support our children to learn. Every child in the school from year 1 upwards has their own iPad to support them in all areas of the curriculum. In the Early Years, there are shared iPad resources to ensure that solid foundations in these technology skills are made before pupils move into Key Stage 1.
iPad pens
All children are different and all children need to have the opportunity to apply their skills in a range of different contexts. Our investment in iPad pens enables the children to develop their fine motor and writing skills whilst developing skills to further enhance their computing curriculum through being able to use a range of more complex and detailed Apps.
Software
Our investment as a school in specific software packages and Apps which support and enhance both our curriculum and support individual pupils as well as teacher workload and well being. In addition to this, it also improves accessibility to pupils with SEND needs. IDL (Interactive Data Language) software ensures that pupils can be easily identified for interventions, and these can be specifically targeted to individual pupil needs.
All of the above support and compliment the work that children completed in their books and the technology and more traditional learning methods work hand in hand. Pupils are able to easily move between methods and the use of Showbie has made the transition between home and school learning much easier for pupils and parents to access. Using technology in such a range of ways will help our pupils to prepare for and develop skills in a wide range of jobs in later life.
