Welcome to Year 1

HELLO FROM MRS WOOD, MRS. WHYTE, MISS. CAMPBELL MR. QUEEN, MRS. HOLROYD, MISS BIRGHT AND MRS HOLLIDAY IN YEAR 1.

Welcome to year 1. We are all looking forward to what we have planned for the year ahead. Our year 1 teachers are: Mrs Wood, Mrs Whyte, Mr Queen and Miss Campbell. Our support staff are: Mrs Holroyd and Miss Bright and Mrs Holliday.

Some of our exciting trips this year include a visit to Carlisle Library so that every child can get a library card if they don’t already have one and the local church ( St Elizabeth’s) as well as a trip to Windermere in Summer to experience a steam train and a boat ride. We will also be exploring our local area to see the human and physical features.

PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please ensure your child comes with a kit to change into. Ear rings must either be removed or covered with tape for safety reasons. Your child will change their reading book on Monday and Thursday. The book must have been read twice before it will be changed. They will also be starting to bring home a school library book, which they will need to return every Friday. More information on this will be sent separately. Every week, the phonics sounds your child has learned will be sent electronically, alongside a list of words to practice reading.

Some of our studies this year include our local area, Guy Fawkes and animals including humans.

We have already had a great start to the year and thank you for all your support.

The Year 1 team.
