Pennine Way Primary School

Attendance

At Pennine Way Primary School, we believe that every day counts. Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in helping children achieve their full potential, develop positive friendships and enjoy all aspects of school life. We have high expectations for attendance and punctuality and work closely with families to ensure that every child has the opportunity to benefit from a full-time education. We promote a culture where good attendance is valued, celebrated and recognised across the school community.

We understand that there can sometimes be barriers to attendance and are committed to working in partnership with parents and carers to provide support where needed. Our dedicated attendance team monitors attendance carefully, identifies concerns early and works closely with families to help children attend school regularly. We believe that strong relationships between home and school are key to ensuring children feel happy, confident and ready to learn each day.

Good attendance and improved attendance are celebrated at Pennine Way through assemblies, newsletters, positive messages home and our communication systems. We also offer a wide range of clubs, activities and opportunities that help children feel connected to school and enjoy being part of our community. Where additional support is needed, we work alongside parents, carers and external agencies to remove barriers and help every child achieve the best possible attendance.

School starts at 8:40am, with registers taken at 8:45am, and the school day finishes at 3:15pm. We ask all pupils to arrive on time each day so they are ready to learn from the start of lessons and make the most of every opportunity available to them.
