At Pennine Way Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child can continue to access high-quality learning if they are unable to attend school. Remote learning may be provided in situations such as individual pupil absence, longer-term medical needs, or where a whole class or group of pupils cannot attend school.

Our aim is to provide learning that is meaningful, engaging and closely aligned to the curriculum being taught in school. Wherever possible, children will continue to follow the same sequence of learning as their classmates to help them stay connected with their education and return confidently to school.

How We Deliver Remote Learning

Teachers provide a range of learning activities and resources appropriate to each year group. This may include:

• Work set through our online learning platforms.
• Curriculum-based activities in English, mathematics and other subjects.
• Recorded explanations, guidance or teaching materials where appropriate.
• Independent learning tasks and practical activities.
• Access to online educational resources and websites.

Access to Technology

We understand that access to suitable technology is essential for successful remote learning. Where needed and subject to availability, the school may be able to provide devices to support pupils in accessing their learning from home. Families experiencing difficulties with technology or internet access are encouraged to contact the school so that we can discuss how best to support them.

Supporting Our Pupils

We recognise that every family's circumstances are different. We will work closely with parents and carers to ensure that children can access remote learning and will provide support where possible if there are difficulties accessing technology or online resources.

We encourage regular communication between home and school during periods of remote learning. If parents or carers need help with accessing learning or have any concerns about their child's education, they should contact the school office.

Keeping Children Safe Online

Safeguarding remains a priority at all times. We encourage pupils to use the internet safely and responsibly when completing remote learning activities. Parents and carers are asked to support children in following our online safety guidance and to ensure appropriate supervision when accessing online learning at home.
