Science
At Pennine Way Primary School, we use the United Learning Trust Science Curriculum to provide a rich, ambitious and carefully sequenced science education for all pupils. Through the study of biology, chemistry and physics, children develop a secure understanding of key scientific concepts while building curiosity about the world around them. Knowledge is revisited and strengthened over time, helping pupils make meaningful connections between new and previous learning and preparing them well for the next stage of their education.
Science is taught through engaging practical investigations and purposeful enquiry, enabling pupils to work scientifically and think like scientists. The curriculum explicitly teaches scientific skills alongside subject knowledge, helping children ask questions, carry out investigations, analyse evidence and draw conclusions. Wherever possible, learning is linked to our local environment in and around Carlisle, allowing pupils to explore science in real-world contexts and develop a deeper understanding of the natural world, sustainability and the impact of science on everyday life.
